About

wittenhamHow lovely of you to pop in, a warm welcome to my online home. This is a blog about craft, about walking in the beautiful English countryside, and about the books I read when I’m not doing the first two things.

My making has focussed until recently on wool – you might notice this if you have a poke about around here. I love to knit, it’s so portable, adaptable (on a train for 6 hours? – knit a sock, watching Nordic Noir with subtitles? – knit a garter stitch hat) a beautiful and useful thing comes out at the end – yes, don’t be daft, even a Christmas Nisse is useful. I’m making an exciting foray into pottery this autumn, and other crafty undertakings pop up along the way because I love to learn new things.

I walk to experience the beautiful surroundings I’m lucky enough to live in, I find it a brilliant head clearer. My walks are often short, occasionally long, and, if I can get there, on the coast (how I would love to live beside the seaside). Finally, I can’t imagine life without reading. I’ll never go out without a book about my person in some form – the eBook has made this even easier, now I have books on my phone – but one made of paper and ink is still my favourite.
